Guedel (Oropharyngeal) Type Airway

Pharyngeal airways, both oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal, are a component of preliminary upper airway management for patients with apnea or severe ventilatory failure, which also includes proper patient positioning.

An oropharyngeal airway has four parts:

  • Flange to prevent over insertion
  • Reinforced bite section
  • Curved body to conform over tongue/palate
  • Tubular air channel to allow for passage of air and suction

Intended Use

A device that prevents the tongue from blocking the patient’s airway while an integrated bite block protects the patient biting the tongue and from airway occlusion.

Please note that this device shall only be used by a well-trained and qualified healthcare person or under supervision of a physician in hospital or clinical settings.
